Our Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

We hope this message finds you and your pets well. We wanted to take a moment to remind you of our appointment cancellation and rescheduling policy to ensure a smooth experience for all our clients and their pets. We have recently encountered a high number of missed appointments. Please review the following policies to ensure a better understanding and adherence.

Same-Day Cancellations or Rescheduling: A fee of $115 will be charged for cancellations or rescheduling with less than 24 hours’ notice. Timely notification is appreciated to allow us to accommodate other patients in need.

New Clients: A $115 deposit is required to secure your appointment slot. This deposit will be applied toward the cost of the exam at your scheduled appointment.

Echocardiograms and Ultrasounds with Traveling Radiologist: If you cancel or reschedule less than 24 hours before your appointment, a deposit equal to 50% of the procedure cost will be required to reschedule. Our radiologist travels all over the DFW area with a very busy schedule and appreciates a timely cancellation notice.

Dental Cleanings with Dr. Shawn: If you cancel or reschedule less than 48 hours before your appointment, a deposit equal to 50% of the procedure cost will be required to reschedule.

Technician Appointments: If you miss a scheduled technician appointment without prior notice, a $45 fee will be charged. This fee will either be billed to your account or required to be paid before or during your next visit.

Late Arrivals: A grace period of 10 minutes is allowed for unforeseen delays. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, we will offer options for being seen as a work-in, drop-off admission, or
rescheduling, depending on our schedule.

Missed Appointments: If you miss three appointments, we will terminate our veterinary-client- patient relationship.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We look forward to seeing you and your pet at your next appointment.

Surgical Procedure Requirements

We would like to inform our clients of the new annual requirements for surgical procedures to ensure the utmost safety of your pet during anesthesia (including dental cleanings, mass removals, etc.). The following are the updated requirements:

Pre-Surgical Requirements:

Veterinary Exam: A comprehensive head-to-tail examination by our DVM(s).
Pre-Surgical Bloodwork: Evaluates your pet’s organ function and blood values.
Titer Testing (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo): Assesses your pet’s antibody levels to determine immunity before surgery.
Heartworm Test: Checks for heartworm presence, as anesthesia carries higher risks for infected pets.
Fecal Test: Ensures your pet is free from parasites that could cause malnutrition or
anemia.
Urinalysis: Confirms there are no urinary tract infections and that the kidneys are functioning properly.
EKG: Monitors your pet’s heart rhythm to ensure it’s safe for anesthesia.

Pricing varies based on factors like age, health, and breed, generally ranging from $600 to $1,000 annually. This estimate does not include the cost of surgery.

Did you know Dr. Shawn is Plano’s only holistic/functional medicine veterinarian? That’s right, Dr. Shawn offers Functional Medicine, Chinese/Western Herbology, Homeopathy, Homotoxicology, Nutritional Therapies, in addition to conventional therapies. He also treats a wide variety of pets, including dogs, cats, and exotic pets (birds, reptiles, small mammals, etc.)

Dr. Shawn started offering “alternative” treatments for pets with allergies to reduce and eliminate their need for drugs that were harming his patients and not solving their skin issues. Word of his success spread, and soon he began offering these unique therapies for pets with all medical problems, including cancer, seizures, arthritis, bladder, and GI diseases. He then developed his own line of unique herbal and nutritional products to provide even better treatment options. Throughout his 30 years in Plano, he also became an award-winning author and radio show host for Martha Stewart.
